Purchasing Prints at an Event

Hey y'all. I've been asked to do a family holiday party/reunion in December and they specifically requested that I be able to set up a laptop and printer onsite because a vast majority of their family either doesn't have access to the internet on a regular basis or are uncomfortable with the whole internet thing. So I'd like to offer them 8.5x11 sheets printed at the event for $10/page.

It's kind of like going to see Santa at the mall. You walk up and sit on his lap and then you go over to the desk and pick your picture, they print it and you're on you're way. That's what I need to be able to do! I just need to figure out how to do it.:scratch

I have a rebel xti, laptop and printer (and they're all compatible). But when I use the cable that goes from my camera to my laptop, it turns my camera off from shooting mode so I can't take a picture and have it immediately available for review/printing (by my handy assistant).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

(my apologies if this thread should be in the workflow section of dgrin...)

So you are trying to set it to shoot tethered. First, IIRC, you must load EOS viewer to drive the camera. Then switch the camera to the proper mode--your manual will have instructions on how to do that.

It will work, I played with that back when I first got my 20D and got it working pretty quickly, but that was three years ago. ne_nau.gif

Thanks, Chris. I stayed up last night and finally got it to work with a combination of software, using the software that came with the camera (which I never install).

I've been working on it for a month, solving one piece of the puzzle at a time and last night when I finally submitted a post on dgrin, I got it figured out. Isn't that the way it always works??

I've used DSLR Remote Pro for studio stuff.

rolleyes1.gif Yep. Usually when I'm stumped & post a "help me" thread I immediately figure out the problem. Glad to hear you got it working.
