A sandbar in north Georgia's Lake Lanier. The water is about 17 feet (5m) down from it's normal level at this point in time. This is the Atlanta area's primary source of water.

The sandbar with the small tree is normally separated from the land by almost 200 yards (182m) of water. Compare with this map, notice the sandbar and how far it is from the shore. I'm not sure when this satellite picture was taken, but it wasn't this summer.
