I had hoped to upgrade to a 5D for an upcoming trip to Northern Uganda to shoot for a non-profit org. Due to some budget restrictions, it looks like I'll be purchasing a new 40D instead, and relegating my 30D to my backup.

I have a 24-70mm f/2.8 L that I purchased recently, and I am quite pleased with how it works on my 30D, even if it is a bit long on the wide end.

Does anyone have some sample shots with this lens on a 40D? I don't feel like I'm losing too much with the crop factor, as I'll mainly be doing tight shots and portraits, and won't need the real wide angle. But, I wanted to see how this combo works in terms of color, vingetting, sharpness, etc.

Any advice is welcome...

The Canon 40D imager is nearly the same physical size as the 30D (the 40D is a tiny bit smaller).

You should not see any great difference between the use of lenses on either camera. The 40D should focus a bit faster (and some sources claim the 40D is also a little more accurate) but that's about it.
