35-100F2 Zuiko Top Pro User Pictures

I've had the top pro Oly 35-100F2 for just over two weeks and used it at my cousins wedding over the weekend ( I was one the other offical photographer, although rather reluctantly). The pro wedding photographer was shooting with 2 EOS 5D's and L glass and even he was smitten by the F2.

Regards the 35-100f2:

* Its sharp at F2 - sometimes shockingly sharp even with my E1. At F2.2 -> its razor sharp and significantly more than my 14054Zd even when that is stopped down to f5.6->8
* Noise, IQ and detail - I thought my 14-54ZD was pretty good but the top pro is a big improvement. Noise appears to be less, theres greater detail and the IQ is much better. You can spot the 35-100F2 shots easily even those taken at the same FL and aperture to the mid-pro.
* Distortion or CA - non existent as far as i can tell.
* Auto WB - with the 35-100 daylight flash seems to go to 5150K consistently where as the 14-54ZD its 5300K and I'm not sure why that would be.
* Bokeh - creamy smooth. I have to say this is going to be a real cracker of a portrait lens. No need for the 50mm F2 ZD or the upcoming Leica D 45mm F2 macro.
*IS - Not having IS in cam or in the lens is a bit of a pain but you can still get sharp shots handheld at 100mm (200mm 35equiv) at 1/160 shutter speeds.
* I spent nearly 12 hours shooting handheld during the wedding and about 60% of the time was with the 35-100f2 so you can get used to the weight altough I still wish it was 1-2" shorter and a couple of 100g's lighter.

HarjTT,

Those are amazing images and that is an awesome lens. Of course the fact that you "nailed" the focus on the eyes in #6 is pure skill, and proves you know how to bring out the best in the tool, so it's still mostly the photographer.

The detail, contrast and color are truly "pro" quality. Of course at the price they ask for that lens, you expect pretty good results.

Here's some 100% crops of the shots posted - just converted from RAW to JPEG, no sharpening:











Now I have no idea how the new and old mid-pro 50-200SWD would compare to the 35-100 but I'm happy with the lens although my wallet definetly isn't.

I got an E3 with 14-54 and 50-200, only to find out that I wanted the other lenses instead, this 35-100 being one of them!

Didn't you also want the Zuiko 150mm f/2.0 E-ED?

Olympus does make some fantastic lenses.

I'd love the 150/2 a well! In fact I have no idea what lens to go for next. Sadly a plane ticket I need is going to cost me $4,000 (TAS to LAS) and that's a lens right there! Drat!
