Still have some hoverflies in the garden even though we've had our first frosts of the year

    Beautiful Brian clap.gif
I really like Hover Flies, I always used to think they were baby Wasps
    when I was a kid.

Sometimes I see really tiny ones and then you will often come across a few that are over twice the size of the normal ones you see around the place.

I have a soft spot for these guys nod.gif

Thanks for sharing ..... Skippy :D

    Thanks Skippy :)
There's a large variation in size between different hoverfly species but you can also get large variation within a species with some individuals twice the size of others (as I said before they are not just babies - depends on how much food the larva got).

Thanks for the kind comments everyone :)

kana it's a lot easier to approach close to them when they are doing something - in this case they were all feeding.

that 1st shot looks like you photoshopped that fly in due to the depth of focus! The fly just pops out!

    Thanks Mike and Patricia :)

Patricia - not many flowers left now but the osteospermums seem to try and flower all year round :)
