Okay so this weekend was an event filled one and I thought I would be able to get some fantastic shots. However just like 320 other days out of the year the skys were clear and the sun was bright- too bright!!
Saturday we were at the Coors Light World Finals for Boat races and today we went to the Good Guys Car Show.
Racing boats and 3000 hot rods- plenty of photo ops right?
Let me just say- bright sun + shiny paint + and lots of chrome + shooting manual= :huh :scratch

However my little 8 year old shooting on some presets ending up getting better shots than me :dunno . He did good on the composition as well! :clap

I think it's wonderful that your Son has an interest in photography,
especially at such a young age.

These are very impressionable years in his life,
I say run with it, and milk it for everything it's worth.
The reward will be priceless, your son will never forget the times he spent with you taking photos clap.gif

He's got quite a good eye for one so young.
Thanks for sharing .... Skippy :D

Aaron, your kid rocks. You're lucky guy to have a son like that. 8 y/o, and he's using manual exposures aready with results like that? That boy is definitely going place. wings.gif

It's great that you are taking your son out shooting with you. He does have a good eye.

I do the same with my now 10 year old son. He always gets some great shots. They definitely see things with a different perspective both in their height and vantage point as well as in their minds!

Kids are very observant and see things adults overlook, so it makes sense that your son is doing so well. I like his self portrait in the bumper! Can we also say that they have a distinct shooting advantage being lower to the ground and more limber than their parents for those low shots? lol3.gif

Yes I am lucky- I think he has earned a trip to the slot canyons this spring! clap.gif He wasn't using manual just the presets but he knew enough to change them and then let me know, "Dad- these need to be shot on the portrait preset" rolleyes1.gif . :D

    Thanks Mitchell-

It is fun to take him out most the time- he gets all kinds of comments with the large camera drapped around his neck.

Thanks for the comments Saurora. I agree- it is taking me a little longer to get up if I have been kneeling or sqauting for a while to take shots.

    Dang kids! rolleyes1.gif

Wow! Your son will never forget going to shoot with his Dad.

We never encourage our children enough, as far as I'm concerned. They just need to know we love the stuffin' out of them! A little encouragement and confidence straight from Dad obviously went a long way!thumb.gif
