My favorite is this one but I took it one day prior to the contest and could not recreate it before I left for home... ugh!

I like Ready and Waiting #2, I like the angle of capture here, and the solitude, and you know in just a few hours that beach will be bustling with people...(I might crop down a bit from the top a little JMO)
You're only as good as your next photo....
One day, I started writing, not knowing that I had chained myself for life to a noble but merciless master. When God hands you a gift, he also hands you a whip; and the whip is intended solely for self-flagellation...I'm here alone in my dark madness, all by myself with my deck of cards --- and, of course, the whip God gave me." Very nice shots which makes choosing one quite difficult! I think #2 fits the theme best for me as it has a more subdued light than the strong sunsets of the others. It could use some straightening but I like the vignetting and color treatment you used.

    Agreed
#2 is best of this series. The left top corner dark spot should be cropped out (or cloned...choose your weapon). A level horizon will go along ways too )

I really like #2, but agree that more of a pano crop would make a stronger impact. Personally I would lone out the writing on the tent so that the color and repetition elements are not overshadowed by the desire to read the words.

I actually really like #1. I am not a huge fan of sunset photos in general, but I really like the framing and the human element.

I modified the images: better worse?
I have to work on the cloning out of the letters. I have not been able to get a "natural" yet... I will "play" with the image more later... :D
This is number two without the vingetting.

Photography is such a subjective medium. I think you are on the right track. I personally would like to see your photo with more contrast in the tones...but that is me. You have to come to a feeling of what you like and run with it. The passion behind a photo is as important as the photo itself. My recommendation is to play with it some more...try some extremes, look at other samples and come up with "your look" and run with it. Great job and good luck!

I like the pano crop, but I'd leave more space on top, almost equal to space on bottom. Increase contrast a bit, keep the vignetting. Just my suggestions...

    Have fun!
