Great picture, would like to have seen the person a tad more over to the right though. Definitely a very scary picture. Good Luck.

Great tension in the photo. Would have been fun to see a drip off the edge of the blade to add a little more mystry to it. "Is he slicing tomatoes outside? or what"

Hey all, let me know what you think!

I think the pose is conflicting with the suggested premise - it's not menacing enough. ne_nau.gif
I did something in this direction at one of early LPS QRs, http://nik.smugmug.com/gallery/2791047/1/148823531/Large
It didn't work out, but you see what I mean by the pose...

I see what you mean. maybe because it looks too static?

I was trying to make it menacing to whoever was looking at the photo. it works with the high-res version on full screen on the monitor, but loses impact when scaled down.

What different pose would you suggest?

What different pose would you suggest?

This particular pose is of a person showing a knife to somebody. Except for the context (dark; presence of knife in general) I don't see a single bit of a menace in his pose. Is he waiting to be attacked? But in that case why he choses a knife as a defence weapon if he's about to be hit by a car?

Pick a sitck, give it to your kid and ask him/her to attack you as if it was a knife. You will see plenty of truly menacing poses... mwink.gif

Good point. I'll pray for fog and catch him moving toward the camera. otherwise, i'll see how it looks without the fog. Maybe i can make the light wrap around the dude a bit more

Adding the kind of fog you have is a kid's play in PS. Get the pose right, shoot the dude contre-a-jour and do everything else in post. deal.gif

Nicely done. I have been toying with a similar idea for several months now. It's just not to where I want it yet. I think what you entered is definitely a contender. Good work.......

Actually, without even reading the title I got the menacing theme. The composition and the use of subtle light works (at least for me :D).

Hey man, what do you think of the new pose?

I think the pose in #2 is creepier thumb.gif , but the angle is better in the original ne_nau.gif

    Yep, something like that.
BTW, is he a lefty? Knives are ususally handled by the primary arm...

No sir, I'm a rightie. it just reflected the light a bit better with my left, and kept the knife out of view of passersby--a guy in the fog, with a knife and a skimask
