Britek really that bad?

I am looking for a decent, but reasonable priced studio set up. I have not been in the studio game for 15+ years so I am clueless of what to buy. I have found a used Britek ps 300 3 light kit for very cheap. Just not sure about them.
Everywhere I read Alien Bees are the way to go, but these are less then one Bee! Yea I know, I get what I pay for....
Just looking for mostly head shoots and kids.
So talk me out of the Britek....

I'd say it really depends on what you're after and whether you're willing to
buy something twice if necessary.

If all you'll do is use them for little stuff here and there, you'll probably be
just fine. But if you want to shoot portraits professionally, well. You get the
idea.
