Found this female Ichneumon wasp yesterday - it seemed to like exploring :)

    This wasp actually has a pretty face.
    The stinger at the back would bother me I'm afraid :uhoh

    Thanks Skippy - AFAIK Ichneumons don't have any stings - that's it's ovipositor at the rear end.

    Brian when deep in concerntration trying to get a good shot of bees,wasps or whatever...I completely forget that they can sting me!!! Its just when i get near to some bug i havent seen before that i am a bit wary!!! To think many moons ago i was terrified of spiders etc....now i go looking for them and let them live in my house!!!!

    Well done on the spiders :) - Know what you mean about the concentration when photographing. I always lose all sense of time. Still have a dislike for slugs though (not that I think they will harm me).

    The wasp is a pretty little thing. I also did not realize the diversity of wasps till I joined Dgrin. Great images.

    Thanks for the comments T and Vinson.

    There's thousands of species of parasitic/parasitoid wasps out there many though are very small. Lot more common than the communial wasps that people normally take notice of.
