High ISO Fuji F30 and F40fd test shots
Just a quick test of high ISO images from the Fuifilm Finepix F30 and F40fd P&S cameras (with a couple of Canon 350D/XT high ISO images as well, just because ...)
The setup is a knitted throw suspended with a stuffed animal hung in front to provide a strong shadow. A single conpact flourescent light provides illumination.
First the F30 at ISO 800, 1600 and 3200 in manual mode.
===================================
Next the F40fd, ISO 800 and then 1600
=====================================
Finally, just for a dSLR comparison, the Canon 350D/XT with a Canon EF 50mm, f1.4, (at f4) ISO 800 and then ISO 1600.

Sorry for no 100% crops, but time is a problem just now.
My conclusion, the F30 is pushing it a bit at ISO 3200 and some detail is lost as the camera controls noise. Both Fuji cameras do a fine job at ISO 1600 and a splendid job at ISO 800. Both are fairly comparable to the Canon dSLR images in terms of noise.

I can see the difference, between the fuji's and the Canon dslr at ISO 800, looking at the color noise in the white "TY" cloth label, but considering that these are are point and shoots at ISO 800, it's really impressive.
Still can't get myself to buy a point and shoot though. I keep buying lenses instead. uh oh.
