Kids Software for Macs

Santa just got an iMac for a special 6 1/2 year old. I...oops...I mean Santa...got a few kid's software for her too (I-Spy type of stuff).

Does anybody have additional recommendations for her age group (and for when she gets a bit older) for the iMac? Looking for generally non-violent, non-shooting type of games. Shooting alike Lego StarWars games -though for kids - is not what we want. If it was an arcade-type shooting (blasting inanimate-type objects) might be o.k.

Also, besides Apple online, what other sources for Mac kid software are suggested?

mac game store, http://www.macgamestore.com/, can't come more highly recommended. While they'll have a number of games you don't want, they also have a lot of games that don't fit that model. (though personally, I love my lego star wars. ;)

This is probably one of the sadest search results I've ever seen: http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/cat/educational

Some portions of this list might also point in some good directions:

I'm sure there are others, but those are the first three to come to mind.

(see also the other sources of mac software mentioned on Andy's mac advise thread.)

Thanks for that information, cabbey. I'll be looking today/tonight.

I have looked at that lego game and it's cute. I tried it at the Apple store, but had no clue what to do and the 10 minutes I had wasn't sufficient to learn. But, not quite what we want for 6 1/2-year old girl. Maybe when she's a bit older. ne_nau.gif
