Some boring shots...

...taken with my new 40D. It's going to take a lot more getting used to than I thought. I don't like the top LCD and the button layout. I do like the brighter viewfinder, the bigger screen and the improved focus.

Lovely shots Al, although I do wonder if you might need to tone down the exposure just a tad. :)

    Nice Big Al!thumb.gif

Neil, I suspect he was compensating for the dark birds which came out quite well.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Nature is funny in that it does some wierd things to some animals. That coot looks hilarious, but a good shot. All are good shots in what looks like harsh light. Did you shoot these in just the standard mode?

Thanks Neil! Until you mentioned it, I didn't realise that I only took pics of dark birds :D

Not boring Al! Its always good to see birds that we don't see very often, even if they are boring for you! Like the cormorant shot best!

Thanks Stephen. I also got one of the coot feeding the baby, but for some reason the baby came out fuzzy. The light was quite harsh even though the pics were taken before 0730. I haven't tried anything outside standard mode yet - weather has been rather dark for taking pics lately :cry

Beautiful captures of beautiful birds, and also very interesting. I like the redknobs on the baby coot's head. Looks like a brave little bird. I've never been able to expose a dark cormorant very well, you did a great job, detail on every feather...wow.
