categories and sub-cats... how should I organize?

If anyone has any suggestions on what kinds of categories and subcategories work best for event photography, I'd love to hear about it. I do a few different kinds of shoots. Regattas, private yachts, and... let's call all the rest "miscellaneous". I have too much in each category already, so I'm wondering how to subcategorize in a meaningful way. Maybe by date range? What works for the rest of you?

First I think you have entirely to many galleries on the homepage. It goes on forever.
Maybe a category of Boats, a sub category of the year, then organize alphabetically by name of boat. ie Boats>2006>boat name
Or a category of Boats, a sub category of month& year, then organize by name of boat (alphabetically) or date of pics with the event name or location. ie Boats>Jan2006>boat name, or Boats>Jan2006>Jan4th-Racename.
I did see where you put a gallery of windsurfers & kiteboarders under boats, when you have a category or kiteboarding. I think that could be reorganized.
Not sure if I would have a category called private yachts, aren't they all. Maybe work for hire, or you could just put them under boats as well.
Yeah, there's lots of room for improvement. I believe I'll go with the subcategories by date range. I shoot too much to ever get them all sorted by boat name; that only happens when the shoot is only for that one boat. When I cover a regatta, I rarely ever get the keywording caught up.
The kiteboarding category is new--so I'll have a place for those events.
And the private yacht category is as opposed to regattas. You're right, they're all private yachts. It's just, again, that when I shoot a regatta, I'm covering an event. If I'm hired to shoot one boat, or do it on spec, I spend some amount of time on just that one, so then it's easy to keep it apart from the others.
I appreciate your feedback!
