This is a smattering of a few shots I have taken over the last couple of weeks in western Indiana - mostly relating to fall, or color.

Well, Jim, you already know this but it isn't the camera but the eye behind the viewfinder.
Fairbanks Park - lovely clouds, color and wonderful lines from the arch leading to the sky.

Maple leaf - great deep color and lovely dof

Parking spot - wonderful use of contrasting colors

    Hi Ann,
I am glad you liked the sky in the fountain at Fairbanks park. I had been watching the sky as I drove to work that morning, and prayed that I could get parked and shoot before it faded away. That sky did not last 10 more minutes and it was gone.

I had watched a similar sky the previous morning and missed it because I was too slow.

The maple leaves are easy to capture of course.

Here is another from a G9

The interior of a covered bridge with a Lumix DMC_LX1 - it is usually very dark in there too

beautiful, Jim! You guys have a really nice backyard... I would have thought that was a park :D

How did you work the covered bridge shot? Looks like a very tricky lighting situation.

    Hi Stephanie,

Fog makes lots of things look so much more attractive, almost as much as new snowclap.gif

I wondered if anyone would appreciate the challenge in the bridge snapshot.
It was shot with a Lumix DMC-LX1 in RAW, with - 1/3 EC. The actual exposure was 1/30th, f 3.6 ISO 100 in Av flash did not fire

I had to look at the exif because I suspected that I used fill flash, but apparently I did not. The actual exposure was 6 and 1/2 stops more than for bright sunlight - that's pretty dark. RAW gives so much more ability to handle these kind of exposure dilemmas today. I did have to wrestle a bit as it was underexposed more than a little bit in the shadows. I did run it through Noiseware for decontamination.

Point and shoots small sensors have great DOF - that can be an asset, or a liability, depending on the needs of your image.

In lots of situations - macros, some landscapes, it can be a real asset, like in the bridge interior. I think they are great for small detail shots like leaves too.
