Beautiful Brian, just beautiful I like all of them.
The last too look like you have recorded a swaying drop,
like the blade of grass is about to toss that droplet :D

Your just too clever Brian clap.gif ..... Skippy :D

Thanks Skippy,Moni and Mike for the kind comments :)
I enjoy doing these shots- get lovely colours in the BG.

Mike- yes the flower is placed about 1" behind the dewdrop - it's the same flower in all the shots.

    Excellent again Brian.

I did wonder how you got the flower refraction/reflection.

Thanks Paul - I got fed up looking for dewdrops with something interesting behind them to refract- it then dawned on me to put something behind them :)

    These are Incredible
Are you pushing the shutter just before they drop? How do you get them to be so round (circular), it must be a tade secret! bowdown.gif

    Lighting Question
    Hi Brian

Lovely shots, I've really enjoyed your gallery every time I've seen it. Can I ask you about yout lighting setup for these shots? Were you using 1 or 2 flashguns? and roughly where were they placed?

    Cheers
    Ian :)

    Thanks TRP :)

No the drops are fairly stable as long as you don't blow on them - I quite often use the same dewdrop formations with different flowers behind them.
I don't get them to be circular, naturally formed dewdrops are circular because they are small (around 2mm dia). The surface tension is high enough to overcome gravity. Much bigger than this- around 4mm dia they start going pear shaped because of gravity.

I'm just using a single flashgun with a diffuser mounted so the diffuser is always near the end of the lens. See pic below of my two macro rigs. Although the slightly DIY brackets are different they both enable me to revolve the flash mounting and straighten the flash out as the lens extends.
