12/16 - STILL AVAILABLE!!!

I'm selling my used (but not abused!) Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 zoom. It is in like-new condition & includes the hood, case, etc in the original box.

I'm selling because I've upgraded to the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS which fits my shooting style better (due to the Stabilization).

I'm asking $600 out the door - shipping+insurance included. :deal

Please feel free to email me at ryan@rrdphoto.com with any questions!

Good point - *no* it is the standard, not the Macro version.

This is pretty tempting as an alternative to my canon 70-200f4/l... (I really want the 70-200 f2.8L IS but that is way out of my price range currently, even with selling my current lens...)

do you have any photos of the lens itself? also have you used it in any sports settings w/ examples (as that is what I would be buying it to use for)

I've shot some sports with it, though sports shooting isn't really my thing & have also used it quite a bit for portraiture. Browse my Smugmug site for examples such as the following links. All of these galleries should have been shot exclusively with this lens.

I don't have any pictures of the actual lens itself. You can find those on the sigma website if you're interested! :D I will say that it is in great condition, the glass is clean with no nicks or scratches & the body of the lens doesn't show much if any wear.

Do you have any feedback anywhere for other used items you've sold? Since there are no photos of this lens in the condition you say it is in (not that I'm doubting you necessarily, just like to cover my bases) if you've got feedback I could read somewhere (i searched the feedback thread and found none) that would greatly make me feel better before making an offer on this lens. Thanks!

as a suggestion to both parties: even the best photos of a lens can be misleading, and while a good thing, feedback doesn't indicate how good one item may be from the next.

the best course of action is to discuss, well beforehand, a mutually acceptable return policy. agree on the buyer paying all shipping, or maybe even a fraction of the price - that, I leave to you.

Hi Shima. I can understand your concerns with buying something from an online forum. It's important that you do your homework.

Feedback: Anyway, my point about the photos of the lens are that they're kind of silly - if a seller had something to hide they easily could & if you wanted a photo good enough to evaluate the quality of the glass or something like that it'd take so long to set up properly that it isn't worth the seller's time. That's why I see little value in "pictures of the lens".

If there are any problems with the lens I'll happy accept it back, but I'm confident that I won't see it again.thumb.gif

Alrighty :) Let's move this over to PM shall we?

Gotta love us ebay oldies who have been on there forever and only do it right on ebay. I myself have been a member since July 1st, 1999 with 100% feedback as well (only as a buyer never a seller though)

Yea - I guess I didn't think to... boy, that would have made shipping easier! :)

What's strange is that posting it there or with the CCofC didn't cross my mind... maybe I just don't think of the online v. real-life forums to be different! :)

Well I'm glad you didn't as that baby is soon to be mine... Can't wait! It's not going very far though, google maps claims that Cincinnati to Valparaiso is only about 260 miles :)
