A rare occurrance: Huskies in Holland

My friends,

last weekend we had had some days filled with a lot of snow, especially for our country, it has been 20 years since we've seen that much snow (and I was 5 at the time :rofl). I went for a walk with a good friend of mine and suddenly, after we rounded a corner I saw them standing.... 8 proud huskies with their staff :D. I stopped, aimed the camera and waited... Then the moment came that they were 'charging' towards me, what a sight! Something that doesn't happen often in The Netherlands as far as I know.
Presenting winter in The Netherlands:

The white spots on the guy are spots of snow drifting off and I'm still considering cloning them out.. But I'm unsure as of yet whether I should, perhaps only the spot in his face...
Hope you like the picture!!!

As per the advice of our Highly Valued Second Rate Photographer :lol (Thanks Andy :wink) I present to you the Huskies without spots:

lovely dogs, great pic, too, mdb thumb.gif

yes, clone those little specks of snow out, all of 'em. why? imo there's not enought snow falling to make it obvious that it is snowing, so get rid of them :D

Great shot. I had to count ears to find that eighth dog. Love the composition and also the detail, especially in the snow, under less than ideal metering conditions.

Did you shoot programmed or did you manually pre-set in anticipation of the shot?

rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif you got me searching too! What's the old saying? something like, um, "..when you're the rear dog the view never changes"?

Michiel: Really a wonderful, beautiful shot. I'm seeing Christmas cards!

    Hey Dixie,

thanks for the compliments!! I shot at Av mode partial metering of the snow, and I forgot to set +1 EC, but I was shooting at ISO 100 so I thought it would be no biggie to correct a stop in post :D
    EXIF:
    1/320s f/4.0 at 104.0mm iso100 20D 70-200 F/4 L
I even forgot in my haste to set the camera to continuous shooting :D so I was holding the shutter in one-shot mode, it felt kinda silly :D luckily this was my only and best shot mwink.gif
    Cheers Dixie!

    Hey Michiel,

Nows that shot I could never get in Florida. Excellent pic. thumb.gif Andy was right about cloning out those spots of snow. Please don't let him know that I agreed with him.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Great shots of the Huskies Michiel... I've been waiting for snow all winter, all we've had has melted off in a few hours. My "boy" Dusty here has been waiting too, he's only had mud to play in!
