LPS17 1st attempts - Still time to reshoot

I got out on my lunch yesterday to try to find something for this round. Unfortunately, I didn't have my tripod with me and it was a very dark, grey day, so I was trying to balance shutter speed/aperture/ISO. I'm pretty sure that I could re-shoot any of these with the possible exception of #2 (depends on tide).

Any feedback and/or constructive criticism is welcome.

Thanks,
-paul

2 and 3 are my favorites of this group. Looks like an interesting place with lots of potential for Senior Portraits.

#2 works for me, but like you said plenty of time to rework them. You are on the right track.............

well my post-processing grain was going ballistic over 1-3-4 - many visuals going on there, drugged out me's all over the place so love the grunge, which is cool, as I am so dull in reality. Must be channeling my inner-weirdo lately :D

number two rocks and totally looks like a paulthomasmckee!!! but I do like the rest too, but could see more effects perhaps for those with the dreaded *whispers* PS! which is only my desperation for funky backdrops :D <--------- jealous of your backdrops <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/rolleyes1.gif" border="0" alt="" >thumb

I really like number 3. thumb.gif I love the tattered curtain (?) in the window--gives me a sense of loss and decay. I'm curious how it would look brightened up just a smidge.

and sorry Paul to go off topic, but this whole calling people over kiddies as seniors!!! rolleyes1.gif

you would probably get a knee in the nuts over here if it was named that. The first time I saw that mention, I thought it was for the over 60's ne_nau.gif

    Thanks!
Thank you so much for all the feedback! I think I'll try to get back out to the same spot and see if I can improve on #2 or #3 - or come up with something better. I was cold and shivering when I took this group of photos and I think I could do better with a tripod. However, we have grey skies again today - so it makes for pretty flat, uninteresting lighting.

#2 is most interesting to me as the foreground leads the eye to the dilapidated shack. The sky needs to fixed though. It looks a bit blown and blends into the roof of the shack.

kp, join the club on creating the new word of the day. Thank goodness we're not English majors rolleyes1.gif

Thanks Travis, I knew the sky would be completely uninteresting when I was shooting it because of the overcast - so I intentionally framed it with as little sky as I thought I could get away with with out making it feel crowded above the shack. If I was better at PS I'd attempt to put a new sky in. Would a blue sky with clouds be incongruent with the plain reflection in the water? Hopefully we'll get some better weather with more interesting skies.

FWIW, I tried shooting the same theme as #3 but didn't have the tattered curtain. What might work is to up the contrast in the peeling paint, make it BW (or sepia) then lightly desaturate the curtain. Just a thought.

You had much better light with your reshoot.
