Photos by date

Is there an API call/feed that will provide photos by date? I would like to make a calendar view of my photos and cannot seem to find this. I could (obviously?) collect all my photos and their EXIF information, but that would be slow and since SmugMug already provides a feature to show pictures for a date range, it is there (exposed or not).
