D.C. Engagement photo location

I've got two recently engaged friends that have asked me to take their engagement photos.

The first is easy as they want to be at the Awakening statue - just have to make sure we take it before it moves to the new 'national' harbor.

The other is tougher...and takes place today at about 2pm!
All I can think of is near the Iwo Jima to get the monuments in the background or the mall (either at the Capitol or the steps of the Lincoln or Jefferson). Or perhaps the Bishops garden at the National Cathedral. The rock creek park is very close to our house so a simple tree backdrop would also be easy enough to do. Any other thoughts of good locations?

The Japanese garden near the mall would be interesting. Plus the reflection pool at the Hirshorn Sculpture Garden could be nice. Is the Arboretum still open? the infamous columns would be fantastic.

How about Georgetown? There are a lot of buildings with character and color - red brick, black iron, brown wood, etc. Just move a block or two off of M St. or Wisconsin. Also in Georgetown, the C&O Canal and the locks aren't too bad. There are picturesque ones just south of M on Wisconsin, I believe. Finally, if you move your way down to the Waterfront in Gtown, the river, Roosevelt Island, the Kennedy Center, and the Key Bridge are all workable backdrops. Good luck!

Oh, one more...easy, with lots of options: the FDR Memorial. It's also just off of the tidal basin, which has plenty of trees and the Jeff and Wash monuments in the background.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! The shoot got cancelled/postponed due to their family obligations but we might try again in the spring (at which point there would be no question and i would head straight to the tidal pool...).

Do you mean in front of the White House? It's in the Ellipse.
