Canon has their St E2 for allowing the flash units to communicate with the camera and also for triggering the flash units.....in the past I have had so many Nikon TTL cables quit for no apparent reason while shooting weddings that I really want to go wireless with my next Camera......with the new D3 and D300 from Nikon I am very much looking at these for my next tools.
So does Nikon have anything simialr to the ST E2 to allow flash to communicate with camera and also trigger it???.....now it should be low profile for use with a flash bracket.....or is that asking too much?
Do not have time to stumble around at Nikon usa as I am now working 7 days a week.
I want to be able to do this for wedding work....I have decided I am sick and tired of not doing what I love and 2008 is what I guess could be called my comeback year.......gotta get a faster focusing cam than my 7D's, they just aren't fast enuff even with the 2.8 glass
Thanks for the help.

The Nikon D300 appears to have a "Commander mode" to allow the on-board flash to fire either an SB-600 or an SB-800 externally and wirelessly.
It uses a visible pre-flash, but it appears you can program the "Func" button to pre-flash and hold the value of the pre-flash until you take the shot.

It's only one, so it's whatever profile.

So if you need instant response, not a good method.
If you don't then it'll be great.
