I should have been Christmas shopping, but instead I decided to spend Saturday afternoon at the local rink watching the kids go at it. Here the Atlanta Fire take on their cross town rivals - the Junior Thrashers.

(Yes, this lighting is as poor as any of the local high school gyms!)

Number 3 is the winner in my book.

Also, I find that goalies love shots like this that show his (her) position in the crease with the players and puck in frame. I general, it's very difficult for a goalie to get good feedback unless it's from another goalie, goalie coach, or person who knows how to goalie. If you ask a player for feedback, they can't really tell you if you read the play correctly or made the correct decisions and instead, normally tell you that you did well, got screened, you misplayed the puck, etc.

However, photos on the other hand will tell you things like the stick was in the wrong position, you're cheating on the post, your five hole is wide open, stance was too narrow, commited too early, etc.

    Good job!
