On Saturday April, (aktse, and I meet up had breakfast and headed up to San Francisco to meet up with Andy, the elusive camera shy Schmoo, Ian, devbobo, Smugmug Sam, et all.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> April posted some of my photos on her site and sent instructions on how to post these to a thread………sooo here is the first try……………………. <o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> I was told Schmoo is very camera shy, and hard to get a photo of. That was an understatement. Here is one of April, and Schmoo waiting for the good light on a hill over looking the Golden Gate Bridge.
I don't seem to be able to post a second image?
I will post this and see if a second post will take an image.
Here is another on of Schmoo teaching the finer points of photography.
Here is one I took while April and I were poking around Half Mood Bay.
I thought this was interesting. The first shot is of San Fransisco from the Point Fort pier, cropped to a pano. The distance was about 1/2 mile to maybe 1 mile.
Sam, it was great to finally meet you! Even if conversation was limited as I was dodging your camera. I had a wonderful time on that deceptively-freezing hillside.
Ha, I could never teach anyone anything about photography, especially with that little thing. Everyone's got a G9 now. My point and shoot is sooooo last year.

You are standing down hill from Ian, he is a little taller than you or me, and that makes you appear shorter.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> <o:p></o:p> Although I could be wrong, I think you legs reached all the way to the ground. Some great shots. Makes me wish I wasnt stuck here in the midwest. I think we need to have a blurb book made called schmoo spotting. We could all add images we have snagged and made it like an urban legend book....
I wished I were there. I will have to trek out there on my own some day. How do I get to one of vantage points when coming from SF? Where do I park? Along the road?

We were at the Marin Headlands and is also sometimes known as hawk hill.
You basically just cross over the bridge, take the first real exit (not the one to the parking lot), go under the freeway and make a right up the hill. This place gets really crowded with tourists, but there are a handful of turnouts and viewpoints.
This time, we were on the third one. As with most landscapes, the best time is either at sunrise or sunset. A tripod comes in very handy as well as a flashight and heavy jacket.
We'll be making another journey up there in the near future since I want another at night shots. Interested?

I am definitely interested. Please let me know early so I can plan for it. I have a tripod. Despite being a bit whimpy, it should be ok.
I went to Point Bonita this year, but the fog was too thick to see anything in the distance.

The second is a 100% crop from this image.
That's it for now.
