Yep. The mini cards they do are great and are really neat little things to hand out if you are a wedding tog, or just to use them as a business card.

Moo cards are fun and cheap. I've only ordered them once, but I'd order them again.
    C and C always welcome.

Yep, love their mini business cards (as does everyone who receives them). Is a total pain that there's no direct smugmug support though. :(

I'm so glad that I clicked on this thread because they look like a lot of fun. :D

I read some of the threads on their forum and noticed that many people were unhappy with their images printing too dark, but it seems that the majority with complaints use uncalibrated monitors. I'd like to give them a try and thought I might need to bump the brightness and saturation to compensate for the lamination as people suggested, but am now having second thoughts since I am calibrated.

Can anyone who has used them provide feedback in this regard?

Hmmm, I'm also glad I looked at that link as it sounds precisely like what I have been in the market for - simple, unique contact cards. I'm willing to spend the $20 to find out how the printing/color is. :D

Great! I was just thinking about this today. It is one of the few things Flickr has (the api level integration, I mean) that I wish smugmug had.

Is MOO.com the best option for using a SmugMug photo as the basis for business cards? I'm a full-time grad student so not looking to spend too much money, but I'm wary of all the free business card sites out there. I still want something that looks nice and not too canned. There's so much out there it's overwhelming.

    Thanks,

Their MiniCards do look interesting, but they are considerably smaller than a standard business card. According to the site, the dimensions of the MiniCard are 1.1 x 2.76 inches. A more standard-sized business card is 2 x 3.5 inches.

That doesn't have to be a bad thing though; it depends on what you are looking for.

I think they are an opportunity to try something creative and different than the standard business card, so that is exactly what I'm going to try (I should receive mine any day since they were shipped on the 18th). I think if you just leave it as a plain business card, it would likely get lost due to it's small size as Denise pointed out, but if you turn it into a mini work of art...If you look through their blog, forum and pool photos, you can get some good ideas to jump start the creative juices; punch a hole and tie a ribbon through it (ok, maybe a ribbon won't work for a guy rolleyes1.gif...unless you do weddings), put it in a slide mount, someone found frames that fit perfectly, some use them as a mini-portfolio by stringing several together...

You can add up to six lines of text, although the selection of fonts is pretty limited. I thought that four lines looked perfect for a business card - one bold line of text for the business name, space, and then three lines of contact info not bolded. My only concern are the repeated reports of an inconsistent printing process - color casts, etc. But people do seem pleased with their customer service. I'm trying ten different images so I can see which type will print best.

    An easy connection...
...would be great. Even if it were just for the smugmug account holder.

I bought one batch of mini-cards that has the same photo as the banner on my smugmug site. I always carry a few of these in my wallet, ready to pass on to anyone that may be interested in my photos.

The second batch is printed with a photo related to my job. I use these as alternatives to my standard business card when something less formal is appropriate.

The third batch is printed with a snow scene similar to that on my Christmas cards. I included a mini-card with every Christmas card. In previous years I printed the business size cards on my inkjet printer. My friends generally throw away the christmas card, but many keep the smaller card. You know you've made it when you see your card stuck to their fridge next to the kid's artwork.

It would be great if I could create moo cards in a similar fashion to the new greeting cards.
    See you later, gs

I just got my cards in and I love them. The print quality is very good and they are exactly what I needed. I'm going to order another set or two for mixing different images, but I'm so pleased!

I am not thrilled by the interface and checkout procedure on their site, but the product itself is thumb.gif

Sorry for the delay! I like Moo.com because it's so simple and in many ways I think it's a virtue but in others I think it's a bit hindering. The site is very clean and simple - something that I usually enjoy. I admit when I first started uploading images to make these minicards I wanted several images and didn't grasp the notion that you could hit, say, the "Browse" button several times to upload up to 100 photos. And then I was hustled through the (very streamlined) customization area and shopping cart without many options to go back or add more to my cart. The customization options are very limited but of course for $20/box how much do you expect?

Lastly, I was not pleased that I can't view my product on the summary page before I hit "Order." When I click on the link to edit my text/photo it brings up a 404 Page Not Found error that is not very promising. If I can't even view the product I just made, how can they guarantee that their machines have it and will send it to me looking the way I designed it?

The bottom line is that the navigation and the mechanics are there, but I think that in simplifying they obscure some of the features that I've come to rely on when I'm customizing and ordering products online. And especially since they are based across the Atlantic I want to make sure that what I want is what I get. I'll use them again for sure! But my first experience with them was hustled along a bit too quickly for me to be comfortable.

Any progress on combining SmugMug with Moo? I just ordered some cards using their flickr interface. With flickr, I have to upload un-watermarked images that are accessed. It would be really sweet to be able to access our originals here on SmugMug while still protecting them from the public with our watermarks.

I know you guys / gals have lots on your plates as it is. Just wondering.

    Thanks!

Yes, progress is happening, but we are still testing their cards, service, support etc.

    Stay tuned.
