blog suggestions

Hi,
After spending time updating and customizing my smugmug page (http://www.csphotography.com.au/) I think it's time I move on to my next project which is creating a blog.

I want to use the blog for talking about my new photos. They will link back to my main site which I heard is good for google rankings. I also want to use it to post small reviews, articles etc.

I have heard about blogger and wordpress but what are your recommendations for a bloging website? It would be nice if in the future if I could have my own domain for the blog and remove any ads.

It doesn't get any better than wordpress. It's the most versitle and customizable blogging platform on the planet. You can either host it yourself (if you have webspace) or have someone host it for you (lots of places host wordpress).
