    George,

    No tension, isolated, calm, introverted.

Beautiful image, the kind that lingers.

George, I have always enjoyed your work, but this is above and beyond. The softness, light and monochromatic treatment all work well together. Beautifully done.

Good stuff, George. This is one time I like both the photograph and the
    processing.

George, it is all that the others have said it is. The composition/pose and lighting are superb. I am sorry to add this "but"... Children are always pleasant to look at no matter what the quality of the shot, and I also recognise your affinity for grain which you put to refined use here. What *special* perspective does the image offer us? For me it is too "distant". It is an intimate portrait with little intimacy. It's more a "study". It reminds me of 19th century personal care advertising. It looks like a label. That is not to say anything negative about your craft. For it to be special for me I need to see detail which reveals some unique and individual quality of the child, captured and unrepeatable. It needs a spark of vitality and personality lighting what is below the surface.

Thank you for the look. It was worth it.

Hi George, I read your fuller message, thanks. It's my hope for you and for me that our cameras will take us where we have never been before but are delighted to be!

I have to agree with some of NeilL's comments that it is a study/depiction and not necessarily a glimpse of a personality or "essence" if you will. That said it is beautiful photograph, but such a flat expression don't find it as emotionally grabbing as I would *like* to. The processing suits the photo perfectly though. That's what grabs me.

(If I didn't think George could take it I would just say "neat photo! ---" :D)
