'Scuse my while I pick myself up off the floor . . .
I don't know how to hand hold any more:lol4
I think any exposure short of 1/2 second is blindingly fast. Architecture will do that to ya. It's good for old farts like me. I don't move much faster than the building, and the subject doesn't get tired or crawl away while I futz around composing or fiddling.

Sure
Architects, interior designers, builders. I cheat. My wife has an interior design business in McLean Virginia, and has been in business there for 25 years. We know lots of designers. The rest is primarily referral. Marketing is my downfall. I'm pretty good at the technical crap (he said humbly) but that barely matters. Marketing matters, and I suck. To me, the first job I do for someone is like finding a diamond mine. Once I shoot a project for someone, they're mine for ever. I only know of one designer that ever went to another photographer after I shot one of her jobs. Still don't know why, but I aim to find out. (She went to a damned fine photographer. That's a comfort) The fact is, they love my work, and keep coming back.
I bust my ass for a new client, cause I know there's more diamonds in the mine. Most designers and architects have numerous projects they need photographed, and the main reason they don't do more of it is $$$ and the pain-in-the-ass factor. I try to remove the PITA issue. Show me the money. I schmooze their clients. I am effusively grateful to the homeowner for allowing me to intrude into their home/business, whatever. Why? 'Cause they, in turn, tell MY client, what a great guy I am. I always include a little lagniappe when I deliver, like a set of 4X6's they can give their client, or a couple extra 8x10s that I tell them were "trial prints." That blows them away. "What?? You do trial prints?!?! You really care about getting my stuff right, John (kiss, kiss)." What's it cost me - squat. And they won't THINK about calling someone else when their next project is ready for photography.
Ya gotta beat the bushes. I used to carry around a nice Pina Zagaro brushed aluminum 11x19 portfolio. Now, nobody wants to see prints. They want to see your web site. Thank you SmugMug (though mine is dreck). I've actually had clients tell me not to bother with prints. Just give them the CD. Now, I just carry around a 10" screen notebook computer. The designers all think it's "cute" and at least it gets their attention.

You must be so thrilled to be an "overnight" success! Lots of hard work, planning, freebies etc finally converged for you and you came up with a winner!!!! clapclapbarb
So ICEBEAR , HOW do you turn the pop off flash to No exposure , and stillwork the CLS I would like to try that on my new D200
Best advice I can give is to direct you to p.161 in your manual. In your Custom Settings Menu, e3 - Built-in-flash mode
You set it to "Commander" and then in the Commander Mode menu, set the Built-in to "--". You obviously have to have the built-in raised, but it will only fire the command pre-flashes, and not contribute to the exposure.
Pretty cool.

FYI, I checked out your gallery. All your images are available as full-rez downloads for free. I noticed you placed a watermark, but it looks like you forgot to disable the "save as" feature.
