Preserve EXIF metadata

hopeless

I often post a selection of my photos to other photography forums and have to manually find and copy down the EXIF data because Smugmug strips it out of all non-original copies. Any chance you could preserve it (at least the basics? caption, aperature, flash, focal length, shutter speed)? Surely it's not using a significant amount of space.
