D70 Shutter Lifespan

Howdy All-

I am thinking about purchasing a used Nikon D70 that has about 10K pics on it. After my shutter stopped working on my PowerShot (yes, I know different class of camera) at 12K. I have learned to think about that issue. So my question is, does anyone have a life expectancy of a D70 shutter? Overall life expectancy?

The seller is pretty reputable to me, he is my brother :)

I own a D70 w/ 45k+ clicks. It can be a hit or miss thing though. I'd say 10k is fine though to buy. I have a D50 that has 25k clicks and it's still cruising. The D50 was definitely not built was well as the D70.

    YMMV

Is it the D70 or D70s?

My D70 (Dec 04) has 49k and I believe the shutters are rated for 100k. 10k is nothing! Go fur it!

    DISCLAIMER:
This is just what I would do if I were you. Take it at face value only.

I'd answer that by asking if you already have Nikon glass.
If you already have glass that you're happy w/. Then I'd say not a penny over 500. This is only because your getting into the D40x (body only) brand new for a little bit more.

If your looking for a whole package. You might go a bit higher. But I'd say 550 from a reputable seller.

    BTW:
The price fluctuation usually is driven by what the body is attached to. What's your brother throwing on the D70 to sell it.

Usually when a person doesn't release shots of the gear and they are in a photography forum... That's a small red flag in my book. You get what you pay for.

Using an unaltered shot (straight from the camera), I use Opanda IExif to view the EXIF data on a PC. Let us know what you find out, or share a shot and we can assist.

Alright, how do I share a shot? I just turned down the quality to "basic" and shot myself in the mirror, but I believe the file is still too large to upload here. Tell me where to send...

Sounds like you are trying to attach an image, which isn't the ideal method.
