I hope it is appropriate to post this here.
EquiSport Photos is looking for a few good shooters to help cover major U.S. horse racing tracks. If you live near a major track, and love to get up before the sun comes up, this could be right up your alley. We need front people to get the early week work-outs and then assist us on the weekend. Fast glass is a plus, but we bring a few extra goodies with us too. And, it even pays (not enough to buy that 500 f/4 you have on your Christmas list though, sorry).
Here's a glimpse of what we need... http://www.equisportphotos.com/gallery/3997624
Our emphasis is on the Triple Crown Trail in the SouthEastern US (Gulfstream, Fair Grounds, Oaklawn, Churchill, etc.), but we are trying to establish a national network (New York, California, etc).
Click the "Contact Us" link on our website for more info.
Best, Matt

Well I can tell you with certainty that Portland isn't on the triple crown tour! I'm not even sure if Portland Meadows is open this time of year... headscratch.gif

Nice shot of the winner there Z. This is sorta what we want. Only about 5 days before the Winners Circle. You have my attention though. We are looking for early week stuff and then assistance at the event. Gulfstream is our second stop of the year, for the Sunshine Millions. Jan. 26th.

Santa Anita and Hollywood, in the LA area, are high on our priority list. As is Del Mar in the San Diego area. Thanks, ESP

Once upon a time Maryland was a good place to be, not so much anymore... But, let me know if you need anything in this area. I have a Maryland Racing Comission ID, but it has expired now.

Rumours are always abounding that the Preakness may not remain at Pimlico for long and Laurel is not a hot bed for racers. Charlestown was revived with the addition of slots though and many Marylanders are trying to get them back in here.

I also hit the big steeplechases in VA - Gold Cup and International.

I looked up the tracks you listed Hallande,FL; New Orleans, LA; Hot Springs, AR; Louisville, KY.

How often are events. I travel to New Orleans pretty often and I enjoy Louisville. Not sure if there would be another track with closer proximity.
"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me

    Hi Bham,
Of course The Derby is at Churchill in May, but there are several nice preps at Fair Grounds in New Orleans. Including the Louisiana Derby, March 9th.
Do you have any horse pics in your galleries?
    Thanks for your interest, ESP

    Thanks Christina,
We may have crossed paths at the '06 Rolex. I live in Lexington.
Contrary to rumor, the Preakness at Pimlico is still alive and well. It of course is a target race for us. We will be looking for some early week morning work outs like this... http://www.equisportphotos.com/gallery/3997624
as well another person to shoot on race day. Click the "Contact Us" link on our website. I checked out some of your website, and I think you have some nice stuff in there. Looks like you know what to look for.

I was shooting for Equestrian Services, LLC and David and Karen O'Connor. On the dressage days after getting massively sunburned I spent most the day under the big tree inside the arena. Cross Country I was at the Head of The Lake on the little photographer's spot between the water on the course and the actual lake. Stadium day I was on the island inside the arena w/a neon orange rain jacket. rolleyes1.gif

I did World Cup this year and will be taking one of mine own horses to Canada for a week+ next year so I'm not sure I'll have the chance to hit Rolex again. Have fun if you get out there though! thumb.gif

Saratoga - The August place to be
I'm just south of Saratoga, NY and The Saratoga Race Track (20-30min). The Travers and several other major races go on here during it's brief 6wk run and I would be interested in hearing more.
