Inside the Sony A700 review http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sonydslra700/ you'll see the notes for the Nikon D300 it was compared with. the D300 review isn't ready yet, but this is the first info from Dpreview that shows the D300 officially (not just forum speculation) doing a very good job against its competitors. good job Nikon :)

There are high ISO comparisons with the A700, 40D, D300 and the Oly...

It'll be interesting to see the D300 review, but based on the info snatched from the A700 review, I think you can pretty much tell how the D300 review is going to turn out :) Good news.

What's really exciitng is how close all four cameras (A700, D300, 40D and E-3) tested. You really can't go wrong when picking between them. Its definitely a good time to be a shooter.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

i actually just bought a new A700 2 weeks ago, absolutely love it, although it has had 3 firmware updates already by sony. having a time getting used to the camera starting to autofocus as soon as you bring it up to your eyes, but actually kind of novel really. and the thousands of lenses out there, good lord!!rolleyes1.gif

Well said. Now if there are problems with our photos we can't blame our cameras.
