Robert Westin head of Canon Sweden
gave this interview to a swedish site.

Posting this makes me feel like I'm
a total canon fan. :dunno I really hope
they'll anounce the 5D's successor.
Anyways I thought this could interest
for some of you waiting for a new
cam to come out.

No need to apologize for being a Canon fan - just don't be a "fanboy".

The 5D is a great machine, but is getting a "bit long in the tooth". Canon's typical replacement cycle has been 18 months, and the 5D was announced 22 Aug 2005 so it's well over two years old.

It seems to be the model that many of us aspire to as it provides superb resolution, low noise and great colours without some of the more professional features of the 1D series (that many of us don't need).

There is always a big announcement each Feb/Aug, as that's when they release information on new camera, lenses, accessories.

The Rebel XTi and the 5D are due to be replaced, so I suspect that's what he means. I guess time will tell.

It would be a bigger surprise if they didn't make serious announcements around that date. :D

Looks as Sweden is closer to Japan than any other Country,
    even Japan itself.
