Bill, those are beautiful photos! I don't think I've ever actually seen one in action before. Now I think that's a shame, they are so dramatic and full of energy. :D

Randy your shots aren't showing up. External links enabled?

I have some from the Skunktrain that I took over the summer:

This one is my favorite of those and also the one that I won a first place with in the local fair:

I had a look in your gallery, outstanding train shotsthumb.gif

You've got at least 3 places within about a 3 hour drive of Baltimore where you can see some in action. The New Hope and Ivyland Railroad in New Hope, PA run steam at least some of the time, as does the Strausburg RR outside of Lancaster, PA. The Wilmington and Western Railroad outside of Wilmington, DE also has some steam power.

Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to add, although I've seen some of these in the psat.

To everyone that posted pictures, great shots!

Great stuff Eric. Love that sepia treatment on that shot, sepia's always a great choice for these great machines. Thanks for sharing.

    !

Don't forget the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, 2 1/2 hours from Baltimore. That's my personal favorite.

    Very nice stuff Bill.

I can still remember stopping in our old farm truck & letting them go by from when i was a kid. They took a long time to phase them out around here.

I love trains. My last trip to California a couple of years ago was via train: Lake Erie Express from Boston to Chicago; Southwest Chief from Chicago to LA - great! I travel coach, lean back and enjoy the ride, the rocking, the sounds - magic! When I was looking for an apartment in Brookline, a prerequisite was to be within site of the T (I am on Beacon Street, overlooking the Green Line - love it)
Got pics someplace, but not to match the ones posted above - fantastic!
