Waiting for Spring

Last February we had a horrific ice storm. While the results were beautiful, we lost power for three days. Luckily I had plenty of gas for the generator. Our driveway was blocked by birch saplings bowed down by the weight of ice and we could not leave the property for four days. We could have walked around the obstruction but as we are 8 miles from town, without being able to get a car out we were stranded. Finally the ice thawed and the saplings slowly straightened up.
Barney helped me to clean up after the storm. While I would have preferred that he haul the branches back into the woods, he was determined to deposit them on the lawn side of the driveway.

Gosh it's a wonder you were not all suffering from Cabin Fever after that.
As pretty as the ice looks hanging like that,
I'm sure being in it as no fun at all.
Least Barney helped kinda

For sure I'd rather have 2 feet of snow than 1 inch of ice. The driveway is quite steep and Barney's the only one who can walk on it without going
a** over tea kettle.

The bench shot is a favorite of mine. It's also a favorite place to take a break from yard work (in nicer weather ) as it overlooks the valley.
