<!-- / icon and title --> <!-- message -->Just bought my first mac - the 2.2 macbook - and am trying to get my screen saver to work with rss feeds from my smugmug account. I pulled up the rss feed in safari for my favorites gallery and pasted that into the options section of the desktop and screen saver config. I get a message that there are no images to display. I added a second rss feed (recent photos) but still nothing. Any suggestions? Any othe way to get smugmug photos as a screensaver?
Thanks,
E

    Greetings,

I have found a work around, as it seems that the photo RSS feature ".Mac and RSS" isn't working with Smugmug at this time. The solution is to use iPhoto RSS feeds.

    1. Launch iPhoto
    2. Go to File > Subscribe to Photo Feed
    3. Enter the URL to one of your photo feeds
    4. Launch System Preferences
    5. Go to the Screensaver preferences
    6. On the left side of the pane scroll to the album that is the RSS feed of the photos you want to display (you can find the name in iPhoto under "Subscriptions"

I have tested this and it works well Corection: it seems that only a small thumbnail is displayed instead of the higher resolution image. I think this maybe a feature of Smugmug to only allow thumbnails in the RSS to help protect people's photos. If you need any further assitance, please don't hesitate to ask me or Smugmug support.

    Regards
    Trevor

You can actually change what size is downloaded by appending the this to the end of the URL of the feed:

    &Size=Large

(or Small, Medium, XLarge, XLarge2, XLarge3)

And lots of examples on the Wiki:

I keep getting a timeout error in iPhoto doing this. I can plug the feed URL just fine into the Google photo screensaver app for Windows, but sadly, it doesn't work on my Mac.

Are there any third-party Mac screensavers with RSS support that run on Tiger?

anybody solve this yet? I would like to ideally use a script like the one linked to over here to refresh and populate a folder rather than the iPhoto route.

any geek here solved this one?

Sorry, I've never tried the script method. :(
    I'll 'bump' this for you.
I use the iPhotos / feeds method Trevor described above.
