Usually the fruit stays on our cherry trees through the winter. This is a blessing for Robins who usually return while there's still a foot of snow on the ground. Then in early spring we get a flock of Cedar Waxwings who swoop in and finish off the fruit then leave as quickly as they arrived. This year however, a flock of about three dozen Pine Grosbeaks showed up and decimated the crop (6 large trees worth in about 2 weeks). At this writing there's nary a cherry (or a Pine Grosbeak) left! :huh
