Flower Fields & Painted Hills

With the most rain on record ever Southern California is in for a real treat as far as "things that grow". It will only last for a very short time (a few weeks, sometimes days) and then it will be gone, but in many respects the wildflowers here promise to be once in a lifetime opportunity.
Two areas in particular came to mind for Pat & I...the "painted hills" up around Gorman (in the Grapevine, north of LA) and Southern Death Valley. We opted for the painted hills and off we went, only knowing someone had told us "it's now, not later".

There wasn't much to see at Gorman, it's just getting started, the locals said be here next weekend..you'll see.

......everyone we encountered said that next week (if you can) and next weekend would be even better.......hard to believe this is just the beginning!!!!...but it won't last long.
I know there are DGrinners who are out there who can and hopefully will take advantage of this info as Pat & I will not be back here next week even though it looks to be spectacular...we're going to be out at Death Valley. So, if any of you can........drop by these areas, you may never see anything like this again.....
I'll post more of these on my smugmug site in the next few days.....I just thought for now I should probably get the word out.

The last pic (it's the flowers remember) it's Kona posing again...he likes posing!

    Good luck to you all
    Happy shooting!

I like the reflection in the first shot. Have you tried shooting with a
    wider angle?

The poppy shots are pretty nice ones! I've seen those hills what seems
like on fire with color. Beautiful.

Hopefully, it doesn't rain next weekend.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Beatiful shot. I was there 3/5, but it was around mid-day. I wonder what time you shot yours. Also, was this taken with the 1D? This is my first post here I hope I am doing this right. BTW - last Saturday I was in Death Valley - really amazing!
