Yesterday at my parents house, my mother picked a flower for me,
as she went to pass it to me through the window of the car,
I noticed there was an immature Katydid on the stem.

So mum went inside and got a container for me ... good onya mum :thumb

I took my new found little friend home and introduced him to my kitchen bench :rolleyes

You think he was gonna co-operate?? no way !!!
He jumped on the bench, he jumped on the floor,
he jumped on me, he jumped on the camera,
he jumped on the flash ......and the list goes on

So after about 30 minutes and firing off quite a few shots,
I took him outside and let him go :D

During his little jumping act, he starting blowing a bubble,
that he ever so carefully held even with all the jumping he did.

This picture is hand held using the Canon 40D with Canon MPE-65,
and Twin Flash Unit.

The Katydid is immature and not very big this shot is about 2:1 or 2.5:1

Enjoy......... Skippy :D

Nice capture, Skippy! It does seem to be looking at you rather indignantly, though :D

Never seen a katydid before. I think you did a very nice job to shoot it with your macro. The colors look vivid, the bubble is sharp. Background nicely blurred out. Wonderful capture. Is this a grashopper related insect?

Pretty cool. Worth all the bug-wrangling. Maybe you need to put a leash on the next one. rolleyes1.gif

Hi Sunita, he was rocking, every time I got close to him he began to sway,
from left to right, maybe a defence thing?

He stopped doing it when it moved away.

    Thanks for looking thumb.gif .... Skippy :D

Maybe you have seen one before but just not known it's name ?
These bugs look like Green Leaves with legs,
In the bug book they are in the same section as crickets,
    grasshoppers, and cicadas.

He wasn't easy to photograph... thanks for looking photocat thumb.gif

Hi Brian, I was amazed at how he carried this bubble.
Even with all the jumping he was doing, he balanced that bubble and didn't drop it.

This is the second insect I have ever found that has blown a bubble clap.gif

Thanks for looking Brian thumb.gif ... Skippy :D
