Question about 24-105 L & the early model flaring.

I remember the earlier models had some flaring issues...im in the market shortly for a second hand one & was wondering which to look out for.

Yeah i know that canon warranty it but i still would like to know serial/batch numbers of those affected. Im seeing some conflicting info on the net.
