I spent every day of the holiday weekend out with the eagles on the Mississippi River in the Quad Cities. Check out my eagles galleries to view some of the pictures.

I also saw a family of Trumpeter swans, with the adults both collared. Kinda neat to see. Those are in my waterfowl gallery.

The cloudy shots were on Concord street right around the I280 bridge. The sunny shots were at Lock and Damn 14. I also went to Credit Island, and saw a handful of eagles, but they weren't active, so we left.

I've seen a swan in LeClaire as well, at Thanksgiving, and it had a DIFFERENT collar number, so the birds you saw may be different than these birds. It'd be cool to know. Did you get any shots? Can you see the collar numbers? You can find an image or 2 of that bird in my Waterfowl album.

no shots Rich.. they were flying way out around a fieldne_nau.gif & the backroad that I was on was nothing but ice so I got off of it... so you were by lock 14 next to LeClaire? lock 15 right in Daventport seemed a little better to me...I was by Fulton (illinois side)at lock 13 on the 23rd (30mph winds) I could not believe how many there were.. you could look down the river & see hundreds flying acrossed it. (or it seemed that way) gotta pick a sunny weekend to go back...but my family gets miffed when I go back & spend all my time shooting instead of visiting themne_nau.gif:D

I was at Lock 14 in LeClaire, in the primary parking lot there.

While talking to another photog who was shooting that day, he said there was official count in Fulton of over 400 eagles over the weekend while you were there. That just blows the mind.

Never visited Lock 15 yet. My cousin doesn't care for that site, but maybe next time I'll insist and we'll check it out.
