We drove about 90 miles north to find a Great Grey Owl.
We found 7. I got shots of 5 of them.

    Hey Dave,

Outstanding shots. I've been hearing good things about the Sigma 80-400 lens and these pics sure back that up. Excellent work. clap.gifclap.gifclap.gifclap.gifclap.gif

The fifth one was the most serious. I made a cooing sound like a morning
dove and he locked on to me instantly.

Thanks Harry. The lens worked pretty well, I had a few duds, but I should
    maybe expect that.

I was hoping to get one in flight, but you can walk right up to em. I think
they're used to people taking their pictures.:D

We were hoping to maybe get lucky and find a couple of different types
of owls on our little ride, but it didn't happen.

    We saw:
    7 great grey owls
5 deer (pictures didn't turn out)
1 coyote (saw it in a field while going 70mph, no chance for a pic)
and one golden eagle (we think, it had all the marking as the one in our book)

I think it was a good day.

    Thanks Troy.

UNBELIEVABLE! That's an amazing set of shots. Last time I saw some that close they just sat there too, It's wierd how they just hang out and watch, they must be true predators, I'm sure they're the top of their food chain...
