In a Nutshell

Canon 40D, 24-70 f2.8 L, Tv 0.4", Ev f7.1, ISO 100, AF, WB Auto, post processed.

Your generous comments would help me find how to get the best out of my new gear.

I neglected to set shutter delay with mirror lock, so that is likely part of the reason for the unsatisfactory sharpness, and the lighting was ambient and quite dim, which might have challenged the AF. I found noticeable noise at 100%, which surprised me, though again that might be partly due to the low light together with the particular settings I used. Not sure about what I say. What do you think?

Do you have a polarizing filter? That would remove the glare from the paper and it would look like the subject was lit from the back and just not have that ugly light reflection.

Thanks for your input, SloYerRoll. A CP is top priority to get now.
