I don't get out enough in the cold weather to shoot a lot of birds here in Indiana in the winter time. But sometimes, you get lucky and they come to you.

Nightingale has been dutifully keeping our bird feeders full of seeds for the little birds this winter. I think this hawk that spent a couple hours in my back yard has sparrow on its mind for lunch....

About 120 feet to my barn...

    Jim:

We've got a couple of those that live around us. I remember when we were up North having one that lived in the neighborhood all winter. Its funny, but we didnt see many squirrels that winter either!

Nice shots - nice to have the targets!

This winter is the first time I have ever seen six squirrels in my yard at the same time, beneath my oak, tree gathering acorns.

I was really hoping to see that hawk making lunch out of a squirrel, but no such luck. It posed and preened and gawked a bit, and flew away.

Thanks for the nice words, guys. See you in February.

Nice images. I had a cooper's hawk grab a rabbit right in front of me yesterday but I suffered from "shutter choke syndrome." rolleyes1.gifNo pics.
