Howdy fellow D-Grinners,
I just finished a crazy week overseeing a permanent installation of my work in San Antonio's Alamodome. The installation was required to be complete in time for the Alamobowl football game on December the 29th. I was on site this afternoon and it looks like the artwork installers will be finished by mid-day tommorow, with hours to spare before the 7 pm kick-off! I doubt you'll be able to actually see any of my images during the game's telecast but I'm going to watch the game on TV anyway, just in case.
The building with the four masts is the Alamodome
This is how the images looked last Saturday - awaiting mattes and frames at the framing shop still packed in the boxes that the printer delivered them in.
The suites are located above the second tier of seats, directly below the upper mezzanine. This building will also host the NCAA Final Four next march.
Artwork in one of the suites (there are two images per suite).
Another suite.
One of the photos installed in a suite.
You can see one of the photos at the center of this image, it is hanging on the wall of the suite that is lit (directly below the yellow banner).
This is the suite and artwork that is visible in the previous image.
This image is of the central library.
The artwork installers had to compete with the caterers for space, both were working in the same rooms getting them ready for the game.
A stack of framed images sits atop a dolly awaiting installation.
Thanks for looking, and a Happy New Year to all (I should say "y'all")!

I watched the game on TV and never really saw a good shot where you could look into the suites, oh well. Hopefully, some of the folks in the suites will want copies of the wall art - we'll see.

Thanks Leaforte. "Big and bold" is a good way to describe the images. I had photos installed in a dozen of the suites last year, w/ my name on each one, and received a modest response. This year my shots went into the remaining three dozen suites and this time I signed them AND wrote (in small script) the URL to my new Smugmug pro account site! In fact, moments before I went to the frame shop to sign the work I logged onto GoDaddy to reserve a domain name. As soon as I returned home I logged on and set up a second Smugmug account, this time a Pro one (the first one is for family stuff.) My Pro site still needs a lot of work - I'm just working off of the standard templates but at least it's up and running. The time lag between redirecting my domain from Godaddy to Smugmug and having the site up and running was mere minutes. Amazing.
