I have the Tamron 18-200 and I have to say it's a great lens. It's a perfect daily lens because it can go wide and go long very fast and smooth. I bought it for a trip to Domincan Republic and it worked amazingly. Nice feel to the lens aswell.

It will work but I believe you would have to manual focus. I will do some research and find out for sure tonight and post in here again.

No thanks Matt...sorry. That is one of the drawbacks of the D40X. The AF lens has the motor in the lens not the camera body
