boolean searches

I see Smug's search facility is rather limited, it only recognises whole words.
eg
search term bird:
will only find occurrences of bird, not birds or mousebird
cannot use the boolean "bird OR birds" as a search term.
Using Google's advanced search is also frustrating as it doesn't only search keywords, but rather for every occurrence of the word in a gallery, so totally irrelevant objects are sometimes picked up:
searching for bird in my galleries, yielded this:

Google also seems to hang on to deleted galleries for rather a long time.
Anyone out there got any ideas as how to do boolean searches on SmugMug?
