I took this from a hill (Lone Mountain for you locals) about a mile from my house. It's about 15 miles from the strip.

The rest of the series is here. (maximize your browser to see them big)

15 Miles away and you could still see all that ???
That's a pretty darn good view.

Got yourself some nice shots there Bill,
There is no place quite like Vegas is there.

Thanks for sharing .... Skippy :D

Cool -- love the photo. Vegas looks like a fun place for New Years Eve... but I guess those hundreds of thousands of visitors to LV each New Years already know that!

15 was a guesstimate based on driving from my place to the strip hotels. I just found a site to calculate miles based on lat/long and my distance was closer to 11 miles.

Estimate was 300,000 people down on the strip and Fremont Street. I was nearly all alone on Lone Mountain. rolleyes1.gif

Next year I might venture down to the strip as I saw some possible photo ops of the fireworks behind the Eiffel Tower on the television broadcast. Don't know if I want to fight the crowds and drunks though... Maybe I will try the parking structure at the Rio. I've got nearly a year to decide.
