Wow, some seriously gorgeous images, thank you for sharing. The Arboretum has now gone to the top of my list of places to shoot locally. I thought about going there when I first bought my D200, but for some unexplained reason the Arboretum fell of my radar screen, Thanks for putting it back!!! If anyone shooting there wants some extra company, I'll go. I hope to go sometime this week.

First of all I would like to wish YOU the very best for this NEW YEAR
and I'm looking forward to seeing more of those masterpieces :D

Anyway, I visited the L.A. Arboretum with "Froggy" last week to photograph birds (not trees:D ),
we did see quite a variety, but we wound up concentrating most of our efforts
    on this Rufous Hummingbird

I guess I'll visiting the Arboretum quite frequently throughout this yearwings.gif :ivar Thanks Steve

Russ, some very nice stuff, thanks so much for sharing. I visit the L.A> Arboretum often (mostly in the spring and summer). I had no idea there were so many birds there. Of course I always shoot the Peacocks, Canadian Geese, Egrets and Blue Herons, even saw a few Green Herons and Night herons as well as the Mandarin Ducks. But I never saw the others. Have to be more alert.

    Thanks again

    Ken

Wow, these are great. I've never even heard of a Red-whiskered Bulbul before. Seeing images like these make me want to go shooting.
I'm often inspired to go out and shoot after seeing images by others on this site also, thanks Nick

Hi Russ, Thank you, I very much look forward to it. I live in Burbank and the drive to Arcadia should be fast, especially if I don't make a pit-stop at Samys in Pasadena... I'm now wondering about the possibilites at Descanso Gardens, another beautiful location that I haven't visited since buying an SLR. Your images from the Arboretum have really got me excited to go.

    Cheers,
    Graham

You're fortunate to live so close to all the mayor photographic hotspots Graham.
The Descanso Gardens is also on my list of places to visit in the future.
I'll be sure to keep you informed
