A lovely set of picture Gus, my son though pic 24 was a toy hotwheels car rolleyes1.gif

I have only manged one visit to a drag strip and that was a practice day at the Gold Coast race track in Queensland. Unfortunately only one of the big boys was there and he only done a couple of modest runs, but watching the crew pull the engine down and rebuild it in minutes is an impressive sight (just incase you wonder why they pull the engine down, the life expectances of these engine is under 10 minutes!!!)

Thanks for bringing back the memories

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

Beautiful, gus. thumb.gif Love the B&W ones in particular. How long did you hang around behind the Top Fueler warming up on the stand? lol3.gif

It's been over 10 years since I've been to nitro event. I need to correct that.

Great pictures! I always love seeing the way the tires distort when all that power is applied.

I'm liking the pit shots. Especially the motion blur of the hands working on
the motor. Demonstrates that sense of urgency to finish the job.

Outstanding set of photos, Gus! The detail in the close-ups is super and you did a great job narrating. One of your best sets yet. thumb.gif

holy cow - I do like these, especially your B&W conversions.
Last time I went (here in the UK) you couldn't get close to the pits to take those sort of pics.

you've gotta love the sideways ProMod. thumb.gif

I never realised your ears stopped registering noise above a certain level and volume was measured by vibration of the internal organs before I went drag racing.

What a brilliant set of pics. I was expecting a few burnout shots and a couple of starts, but the behind-the-scenes stuff is just excellent. Your motion blur shot in the garage/pit is top stuff. Also I love the way the tyres distort under all the stress of the start.
